Whether it’s the holidays or you are just looking for a way to treat yourself after a hard day, this easy fudge recipe is here to save you!

Now you can make traditional fudge recipes, with butter, sugar, and milk. Cooking and testing with a candy thermometer only to under cook or over cook it.

I don’t have time for that nonsense and. I am sure that you don’t either.

That’s why this recipe is the one you want. Just 4 ingredients, no fancy tools, no corn syrup, and you can even do it all in the microwave.

It really is the easiest fudge recipe around. It’s one of my favorite things to make when I have a serious chocolate craving, which is all the time.

What is the secret to good fudge?

  • The secret to good fudge is to use high quality ingredients. There are only 4 in this recipe, so use the best you can find.
  • Melt the ingredients slowly so you don’t burn it.
  • Avoid water as it will seize up the mixture.
  • Let cool completely before cutting.

Ingredients Needed

Chocolate – Chocolate melting wafer or baking chocolate is best.

Milk – Sweetened condensed milk NOT evaporated milk or whole milk.

Nuts – I prefer sliced almonds or substitute your favorite.

Coconut – Sweetened shredded coconut or coconut flakes.

How to Make Dark Chocolate Fudge

First: Line a 8×8 square pan with parchment paper. Combine chocolate and sweetened condensed milk in a medium sauce pan.

Second: Melt mixture over medium heat, stirring frequently, until totally smooth. Stir in almonds and coconut.

Third: Pour into prepared pan and spread into a smooth layer with a spatula. Refrigerate until set

Fourth: Remove from dish and cut into squares.

How long does it last?

Homemade fudge lasts up to 2 weeks at room temperature if store in an airtight container. If you want to keep it longer, store in the fridge for up to 1 month.

Can you freeze fudge?

Yes, you can!  It’s best to freeze the whole batch at once. Just be sure to wrap the fudge tightly in plastic wrap and aluminum foil. Store in a plastic freezer bag. A vacuum sealer works the best. 

Let the frozen fudge come to room temperature before you attempt to cut it or the fudge will crumble.

How do you cut fudge neatly?

  • Use a long, sharp knife so you can make one cut across the whole batch at once.
  • Wipe the knife clean between cuts. Any sticky fudge leftover on the knife will cause the next cut to snag.
  • To make even pieces, start in the middle and then half each section until you cut all the pieces.
  • If the fudge is too hard, heat the knife briefly under warm water. Be sure to wipe it dry before cutting.

Why is my fudge grainy?

This is caused when the sugar recrystallizes. Be sure to stir completely, keep moisture out of the mix, and don’t overheat it.

Tapas Tips & Tricks

  • Don’t add vanilla extract as most have water in it and will seize up the mixture. Add vanilla bean paste if necessary.
  • Stay away from dark chocolate chips. They have ingredients in them to keep them from melting properly.
  • I like to use dark chocolate melting wafers.
  • Stir with a wooden spoon or spatula so you can get all the ingredients mixed.
  • If you want a nice balance, add a pinch of salt to the mixture.

You are speaking my language with making this fudge significantly easier to make! As someone who's fudged a lot of candy in her days, I love that the sweetened condensed milk and chocolate chip combo makes this foolproof. The girls and I will be making this ASAP to celebrate!
