Baked Brie with Honey Recipe

As the holiday season approaches, times get very busy and overwhelming.

You might not even want to entertain because it can all be too much. But I am here to help! This is one of if not THE easiest appetizer around!

It has everything you can want: sweet, salty, and savory flavors, all mixed with gooey, melty cheese.

Not only that but you can serve it on its own or as part of a larger spread like a charcuterie board.

What Is Brie Cheese?

Brie is a delicious cheese originally from France, but nowadays, you can find it almost anywhere. It has a creamy middle, wrapped in an edible rind, with a subtly tangy flavor.

Usually made from cow’s milk, a goat’s milk version is also available, making it easy to pair with so many things.

Pair Brie with Jam, or cut into small cubes and make these Raspberry Brie Cups or Apricot Pistachio Cups.

What to Serve With It

  • Bread: Crostini, baguette slices.
  • Fresh fruit: grapes, apple slices.
  • Crackers
  • Fresh vegetables

How long does it last?

Keep any leftover brie in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 4 days.

Reheat it either in the oven or microwave, using short intervals until it becomes warm, melted cheese again.

Do you remove the rind from brie cheese before baking?

The brie rind is perfectly fine to eat, but if you prefer not to have it, you can remove it. It’s really a matter of personal preference.

If you want to remove it, trim the top portion of the cheese while leaving the sides and bottom intact to prevent the cheese from spreading too much in the dish.

What jam goes best with brie cheese?

I personally recommend a tart or sour jam like raspberry or cherry, but feel free to use a sweet jam such as fig jam or apricot jam.

Really, any flavor of jam or fruit spread that you enjoy will work. Cranberry sauce is perfect for the holiday!

If you like a it of heat, try pepper jelly or red pepper flakes.

Do you have to bake brie before eating?

Usually, I bake brie to make it warm and gooey, which is perfect for spreading on crackers.

However, you can also serve it cold. Slicing it and placing it on sandwiches is one of my favorite ways to enjoy it. It also makes a great grilled cheese!

Tapas Tips & Tricks

  • If using a smaller dish or baking sheet, try lining it with parchment paper to make it easier to transfer to a serving platter.
  • A small cast iron skillet works well too.
  • Try either a full wheel of brie or a smaller wedge, depending on your preference.
  • Before baking, allow the brie to reach room temperature.
  • Leave the top of the brie intact and simply make hashmarks on it using a sharp knife.
  • If you prefer a savory twist, consider serving it with toppings like tomato bacon jam, caramelized onions, or this recipe for toasted pecans.
  • Garnish with herbs like fresh thyme,
  • For added flavor and texture, wrap the brie in a sheet of puff pastry, crescent roll dough, or phyllo dough.
