classic ranch flavor in a dip

Easy Ranch Dip Recipe

Creamy ranch dip might be the most popular dip around. I know it’s the most popular condiment where I live. Way more popular than ketchup!

It might be tempting to pop over to the store and grab some but this homemade version of ranch dip is way better than the packet or the bottled stuff.

And it’s not hard to throw together. Make a large batch and store it in the fridge. It’s perfect for serving with chicken wings, chicken nuggets, chicken tenders, fresh veggies, and so much more!

One of my most favorite ways is to drizzle over hot and crispy french fries.

How long does it last?

Store any leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to a week. Any dip left out at room temperature for more than 2 hours should be tossed.

I do not recommend freezing this dip as it will break down and separate.

What To Serve with Ranch Dip

  • Crackers
  • Tortilla chips
  • Potato chips
  • Pretzels

What’s the difference between ranch dip and ranch dressing?

Both are made using a lot of the same ingredients like the traditional ranch seasonings. But ranch dressing is usually made with buttermilk and is thinner for drizzling over a salad.

Ranch dip is made usually with a sour cream and mayo base and has a thicker consistency. Perfect for dipping in salty potato chips and crispy veggies without running off.

Check out my traditional ranch dressing which is my family’s favorite salad dressing by the way. Mine is honey mustard:)

Tapas Tips & Tricks

  • I use dried herbs because it’s easier and the dip lasts longer. If you use fresh, it will be brighter.
  • Skip the individual herbs and use a homemade ranch seasoning if you have one.
  • If you use fresh herbs, triple the amount for each one.
  • Chill for at least an hour to make allow time for the flavors to develop.
  • If the dip is too thick, thin it out with some milk.
  • Too rich? Add a splash of lemon juice or white vinegar.
  • I like to store mine in a mason jar in the fridge to help it cool even faster.
  • Toss in some finely minced fresh garlic for a kick.
