Big Mac Sliders Recipe

We have all heard the words…

All beef patties, special sauce, lettuce, cheese, pickle, onion, on a sesame seed bun.

Words that have brought back memories of a weird day in my youth where I ate 4 of these iconic sandwiches in one sitting.

They tasted so good but the whole day did not end well as you can imagine.

Nowadays I eat smaller portions, like the blog suggests. So let’s make these Big Mac burgers in all their glory, but smaller and easier to handle.

Ingredients Needed

Ground beef – Use lean ground beef or substitute ground turkey.

Onion – Chopped white onion or sweet onion.

Cheese – Good old fashioned American cheese slices.

Pickles Dill pickles slices are perfect for the flavor.

Big Mac sauce Mayo, sweet pickle relish, sugar, yellow mustard, paprika, onion powder, garlic powder.

Buns – I like Hawaiian rolls but use your favorite.

Garnishes – Sesame seeds, shredded iceberg lettuce.

Pantry staples – Salt, black pepper, melted unsalted butter.

How to Make Big Mac Sliders

First: Preheat oven to 350F. Spray a 9×13 baking dish or baking sheet with nonstick spray.

Second: In a small bowl, combine the ingredients for the sauce. Mix to combine and set aside.

Third: In a large skillet over medium heat, cook ground beef, onions, salt and pepper until the ground beef is no longer pink and the onions are soft. Remove from heat and drain.

Fourth: Place the bottoms of the slider buns in the prepared dish or sheet pan. Spread a thin layer of the big mac special sauce on the bottom buns. Top with the ground beef mixture.

Fifth: Top with cheese slices to cover the beef as evenly as possible. Place pickle slices on the cheese layer, try to space them so each slider gets pickles.

Sixth: Bake for 8-10 minutes to melt the cheese. Remove from the oven and top with shredded lettuce and more special sauce.

Seventh: Top with the buns. Brush the buns with melted butter and sprinkle sesame seeds on top. Serve warm!

What to serve with Homemade Big Mac Sliders

Of course you want to serve these with crispy french fries to complete the meal!

Other great options are crispy tater tots, potato chips, onion rings, or fresh veggies.

I love making these for a crowd and serving them as the star of the show, along with a Butter Board and Pickle Charcuterie Board.

How long do they last?

Store any leftover big mac sliders in the fridge for up to 3 days. The buns may get soggy. If this happens, you can toast them in the air fryer for 3-5 minutes on 350F.

Or take out the insides and spread over lettuce to make a Big Mac Salad.

Tapas Tips & Tricks

  • If using different slider buns or dinner rolls, you can form individual little burger patties and place on the cookie sheet. Then proceed as usual.
  • Some prefer the shredded lettuce warm. You can add it with the cheese and pickles and bake it all together if you prefer.
  • If you like the cold lettuce and sauce, I recommend placing the slider bun tops on a baking sheet and brushing with butter and sprinkle with sesame seeds. Bake for 2-3 minutes to get them warm before placing on top of the baked sliders.
  • Substitute thousand island dressing for the copycat big mac sauce if needed.
  • I like the cool contrast of the lettuce and secret sauce with the warm burger and melted cheese.

Ingredients

  • 12 slider buns Hawaiian rolls or other slider buns
  • 2 cups shredded lettuce
  • 9 slices American cheese
  • 24-30 dill pickle slices
  • 2 tablespoons melted butter
  • 2 tablespoons Sesame seeds

Slider Mixture

  • 1 pound lean ground beef
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/4 cup finely chopped white onion

Big Mac Sauce

  • 2/3 cup mayonnaise
  • 2 1/2 tablespoons sweet pickle relish
  • 2 teaspoons sugar
  • 1 1/2 tablespoons yellow mustard
  • 1/2 teaspoon paprika
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder

  • Alternatively, spread the remaining big mac sauce on the underside of the top buns.
  • Place top buns on the sliders. Melt butter in a small bowl.
  • Brush the tops of the buns with the butter and sprinkle with sesame seeds.
  • Cover with foil and bake for 10 minutes or until the cheese is melted.
  • Remove and enjoy warm.
