The Easiest Fruit Dip

The perfect complement to fresh fruit is a light, fluffy, sweet, and creamy dip. This one is the best because it tastes great and only uses 2 ingredients! Perfect for an afternoon snack or a party.

fruit and bowl of dip

I could eat this fruit dip by itself, the whole bowl, and I wouldn’t eve feel bad about it. But, to make myself feel better, I will use fruit to get it into my mouth instead of a spoon.

It has a perfect dipping consistency with just the right amount of fluffy marshmallow sweetness. When the summer parties start, I make a bowl! Because, who can resist a sweet dip for tart fruit?

Some of my favorite fruits to serve with this dip are strawberries, watermelon, cantaloupe, orange slices, and grapes, but really any fresh fruit will work.

Just wash it, dry it well, and arrange it alongside this delicious dessert dip. You can even use cookies!

Some of my other favorite sweet dips are my booty dip, this banana cream pie dip, and this cannoli dip.

Ingredient Notes

Do we really need notes since there are only two ingredients? Yes, and here we go!

  • Marshmallow fluff – also knows as marshmallow cream, or marshmallow creme, it’s basically spreadable marshmallow! Who doesn’t need this in their life?!
  • Cream cheese – In my opinion, all the best dips start with cream cheese. If you prefer you can use the fat free or low fat cream cheese. I like to use cream cheese that is made with Greek yogurt to balance out the sweetness.

Favorite Dippers

There are so many options, but here are few of my favorites:

  • Fruit (duh, of course!)
  • Vanilla wafers, or your favorite cookies
  • Pretzels or a salty cracker
  • Graham crackers or even animal crackers

Variations

There are few ways to change this up. Because it only uses two ingredients, you can do a lot with it.

  • Add in some vanilla extract or almond extract. It really brings out the flavor of the marshmallow.
  • Stir in some jello or pudding powder to change the flavor. If you do this you might need to thin it out with some milk or it might break your fruit or crackers.
  • Sprinkle in some fruit or citrus zest. I love to add some lemon zest or lime zest to it. The tartness pairs well with the fruit. You can’t beat lemon and blueberries or blackberries
  • Stir in some sprinkles, chocolate chips, toasted coconut, or dried pineapple to make it a more “tropical!”

Storage

Store it in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 5 days. Give it a quick stir before eating.

This is a great dip make ahead and keep in the refrigerator, if it needs it just use your hand mixer again to fluff it up a little after sitting.

How To Freeze

You can freeze this cream cheese fruit dip, but I don’t recommend it. Freezing cream cheese can slightly change the texture and cause it to separate.

If you have to freeze it, storing it in a zip top bag, pressed flat, or another airtight, freezer safe container. Then thaw it overnight in the fridge.

Before you serve it, I would put it back in a bowl and fluff it up with a hand mixer or whisk it really well. This will bring back the creamy texture and fluff it up a bit.

Tapas Tips & Tricks

  • Soften or bring the cream cheese to room temperature for easier mixing.
  • For a richer vanilla flavor add a tablespoon of brown sugar or a teaspoon of vanilla extract. Use clear vanilla as not to change the color of the dip.
  • Too rich? add a splash of lemon juice or orange juice to balance out the flavors.
  • You want to change up the color and flavor a little? Add a packet of pudding or jello and mix well with the cream cheese before mixing in the marshmallow cream.
  • Add chocolate chips for an additional flavor and a little bit different texture.
  • This dip will be thick due to the cream cheese, if it isn’t thick enough for you though you can add another half block of cream cheese.
