PINEAPPLE DRINKS

I haven’t thought about pairing bourbon with pineapple juice before until this last weekend when I bought a few pineapples on sale. Totally in love with them!

And when I was already mixing a cocktail for Brooks when I popped a piece of the fresh cut pineapple in my mouth.

Taking a sip of his bourbon, as it is a new bottle and one I haven’t tried before, it tasted so good with the flavor of pineapple still in my mouth. This immediately got my brain wheels turning.

How about a pineapple mixed drink made with bourbon?!?!

PINEAPPLE BOURBON LEMONADE INGREDIENTS

  • Pineapple juice
  • Lemon Juice
  • Bourbon

Pineapple Juice – You can use fresh or canned. If you make your fresh by blending some pineapple there might be a little foam. I suggest a bottled or canned pineapple juice you find in the juice aisle.

Lemon Juice – Fresh squeezed is best. If you use bottled, you will need to add a little sugar or simple syrup to counteract the acidity.

Bourbon – Just use your favorite bourbon or bourbon whiskey. My husband loves the Weller brand for making bourbon mixed drinks as it’s affordable and delicious.

HOW TO MAKE PINEAPPLE BOURBON LEMONADE

FIRST: Add pineapple juice to a cocktail shaker with ice.

SECOND: Add in the bourbon and lemon juice.

THIRD: Shake and pour into glasses with ice.

FOURTH: Garnish with lemon slices or pineapple wedges.

WHAT CAN YOU MIX WITH BOURBON BESIDES COKE?

I like to add either ginger ale, cherry juice, and coffee all work well with bourbon. I have a few cocktails with cherries.

PINEAPPLE JUICE COCKTAILS

The combination of the pineapple and the bourbon tastes amazing but it needed something to round out the flavors.

Mixed drinks with pineapple juice need something equally full flavored to balance them out. Especially with the richness of the bourbon.

If you are not a fan of bourbon drinks and prefer something a little more “in your face” then feel free to make this a pineapple cocktail instead!

WHAT OTHER SPIRITS GO WITH LEMONADE?

I love bourbon, vodka, rum, and even tequila with it.  I haven’t tried gin with lemonade yet, but it is next on my list!

WHAT OTHER FRUITS PAIR WELL WITH LEMONADE?

I love to try lots of different fruits with lemonade, but my faves are strawberry, passionfruit, and cherry!  If you find another fruit that you love with lemonade, please let me know!

TAPAS TIPS AND TRICKS

  • Chill the pineapple juice before mixing so the ice doesn’t melt as fast.
  • Too tart, add a splash of orange juice or simple syrup to the mix.
  • Need more orange, try a splash of orange liqueur!
  • If the bourbon is a little too strong feel free to add prepared lemonade instead of the lemon juice or simply reduce the amount of bourbon to 1 ounce and increase the lemon juice to 2 ounces.
  • Add your garnishes with these skewers. They work well!
