Pineapple Drinks

I haven’t thought about pairing bourbon with pineapple juice before until this last weekend when I bought a few pineapples on sale. Totally in love with them!

And when I was already mixing a cocktail for Brooks when I popped a piece of the fresh cut pineapple in my mouth.

Taking a sip of his bourbon, as it is a new bottle and one I haven’t tried before, it tasted so good with the flavor of pineapple still in my mouth. This immediately got my brain wheels turning.

How about a pineapple mixed drink made with bourbon?!?!

Pineapple Bourbon Lemonade

The combination of the pineapple and the bourbon tastes amazing but it needed something to round out the flavors.

Mixed drinks with pineapple juice need something equally full-flavored to balance them out. Especially with the richness of the bourbon.

If you are not a fan of bourbon drinks and prefer something a little more “in your face” then feel free to make this a pineapple drink.

Ingredients Needed

  • Pineapple juice
  • Lemon Juice
  • Bourbon

With regards to the bourbon, just use your favorite bourbon or whiskey. My husband loves the Weller brand for making bourbon mixed drinks as it’s affordable and delicious.

Any for those of you still questioning if you want a bourbon drink… you know that little burn you get when you take the first sip- it only happens with the first sip AND the pineapple helps to take out the bite. Give it a chance.

I like to add either ginger ale, cherry juice, and coffee all work well with bourbon. I have a few cocktails with cherries.

Tapas Tips & Tricks

  • Chill the pineapple juice before mixing so the ice doesn’t melt as fast.
  • Too tart, add a splash of orange juice or simple syrup to the mix.
  • Need more orange, try a splash of orange liqueur!
  • If the bourbon is a little too strong feel free to add prepared lemonade instead of the lemon juice or simply reduce the amount of bourbon to 1 ounce and increase the lemon juice to 2 ounces.
  • Add your garnishes to your Pineapple Bourbon Lemonade with these skewers. They work well!
