Mini Chicken and Waffle Sliders
These fun Mini Chicken and Waffler Sliders combine crispy chicken with fluffy waffles for a sweet and savory bite you can serve any time of the day. Top with sticky maple syrup for the ultimate comfort food!
Mini Chicken and Waffle Sliders Recipe
I am not afraid of eating regular foods for breakfast. I love a big bowl of spaghetti and meat sauce to start my day so combining crispy fried chicken and sweet waffles into one recipe is a no-brainer.
Now when I go to a restaurant and order it, a massive plate comes out with huge waffles, a ginormous piece of chicken on it, and then covered in syrup.
It’s way to much to eat by myself, so why not shrink it down? That’s what I like to do anyway!

Ingredients Needed
Waffles – I use the mini Eggo waffles but use what you can find. Whole waffles can be cut into smaller portions.
Chicken – Breaded frozen chicken nuggets, tenders, or chicken strips are the easiest.
Toppings – Use your imagination! I love a tangy coleslaw, maple butter, some hot honey, dill or bread & butter pickles, maple syrup.

How long do they last?
Because they are best right after you cook them because they are crispy, I don’t like to make these in advance or prep too many of them at a time and have leftovers.
If you don’t eat them all, I would separate the chicken and waffles and store in the fridge in an airtight container. Reheat in the oven and then reassemble.
What’s good to eat with them?
I love that they are have both sweet and savory ingredients because then you can eat them any time of the day. So when you are thinking about what to serve with them, you can go from breakfast to dinner, salads to veggies, and even desserts.
For breakfast, I love this biscuits and gravy casserole and a big fruit salad. If you want to have them for lunch, keep it simple with potato chips or french fries. For a fun dinner, I like corn on the cob or a pasta salad.
Since you are already being super fun with this dish, keep it going for dessert. This peanut butter fluff salad or an ice cream sundae board is a game-changer, especially for the kids.
Best Way to Keep Them Warm
Once you toast the waffles and cook the chicken, I keep them separate on a baking sheet and place in a 200F oven until ready to eat.
Just be sure to vent or keep them only slightly covered or they will “steam” and get soggy. You can keep them at room temperature but not for longer than 1 hour.
Tapas Tips & Tricks
- You can use chicken nuggets or chicken tenders/chicken fingers. Note that you can get 2-3 sliders from each tender depending on the size of them.
- Starting with a plain chicken breast? Make a breading from a flour mixture with spices like garlic powder, salt, and pepper.
- I like to use the mini waffles but if you cant find them feel free to use the whole waffle, just cut them in quarters to fit the nuggets.
- My favorite brands are Eggo waffles and Bare chicken nuggets.
- If making these ahead of time, keep everything separate and assemble right before eating so they don’t get soggy.
- You can always put your waffle maker to use and cook a bunch ahead of time and freeze until ready. More budget friendly that way too. And you can add more flavor options.
- Want them spicy? Sprinkle with cayenne pepper, some hot sauce, or a few slices of pickled jalapeno peppers.
