Crispy Cheeseburger Egg Rolls

Cheeseburger egg rolls are made with ground beef, chopped onion, dill pickles, and cheese. It’s everything you’d expect from a juicy cheeseburger in a bun but in a perfectly crisp egg roll wrap!

If you are a big fan of cheeseburgers, like me, you are going to love these egg rolls. I can’t get enough of the crispy egg roll wrapper.

The filling is tender, and the insides are juicy and flavorful. So you get the perfect combination of the crispy, crunch outside with a tender juicy filling inside.

These became popular a few years ago when they appeared at the Magic Kingdom. As soon as it showed up, it has become one of it’s most popular item. Right after those mouse shaped ice cream bars.

Whether you’re an avid Disney fan or not, these handy snacks are undeniably delicious, and they’re also quick and easy to make!

Egg rolls make a great appetizer but they can also be served as a side dish, snack, or as a part of any dinner or party table spread.

If you’ve never made them at home, now is the perfect time to give it a go! I even have a Big Mac egg rolls version!

Ingredient Notes

Ground Beef – I prefer a 93/7 lean ground beef but any ground beef will work. You can even substitute ground turkey of you like.

Egg Roll Wrappers – Any brand is fine. I find these in the produce section of my local supermarket.

Seasoning – Cumin, garlic powder, onion powder, salt and pepper. You can also use a homemade burger or steakhouse seasoning.

How To Make Cheeseburger Egg Rolls

  1. In a large skillet over medium heat add the ground beef and spices. Cook until no longer pink and remove from heat. Drain excess fat if desired.

  1. In a medium sized mixing bowl combine the beef mixture, shredded cheese, pickles, and chopped onion. Stir to combine.

  1. Place an egg roll wrapper on a clean surface with one of the corners pointing toward you. Spoon 3 tablespoons of cheeseburger filling in the bottom half center of the wrapper. Fold the bottom corner up and over the filling so that it is mostly covered.

  1. Next, fold the two side corners into the middle so it looks like an envelope. Lastly, brush the top corner with water and roll the wrapper from the bottom up to seal. Repeat this process with the remaining wrappers.

  1. Preheat 3 inches of oil to 375° in a large stockpot or similar deep pan. Fry for 3-4 minutes, flipping as needed, until golden brown.

  1. Once cooked, remove from the pot and place on a wire rack, plate or baking sheet lined with paper towels. Allow to cool slightly, and serve with our favorite dipping sauce.

Air Fry & Oven Instructions

  • Air Frying: Assemble and place them in a single layer at the bottom of your air fryer, leaving room around each egg roll. You may have to cook them in several batches. Cook at 400°F for 7-10 minutes, flipping them over halfway through.
  • Oven Bake: Place your uncooked egg rolls onto a baking tray lined with parchment paper with some space in between each roll. Bake at 425°F for 10-12 minutes, flipping halfway through.

Storage & Reheating

Any leftovers can be stored in an airtight container or covered tightly in plastic wrap in the fridge for up to 3 days.

Reheat egg rolls in the air fryer at 400°F for 1 minute to make the outside crisp again – they may lose crispiness in the refrigerator overnight.

You can also reheat in the oven at 375 for 5-8 minutes or until crispy.

Tapas Tips & Tricks

  • Add Worcestershire sauce to the beef while cooking it for a more intense flavored filling.
  • Use yellow mustard in the beef mixture for an added tangy flavor.
  • Add diced tomatoes or chopped cooked bacon to the filling if you prefer.
  • Use a variety of dipping sauces to enhance the flavor.
