In N Out Sauce Recipe

For East Coast folks like me, In-N-Out Burger seems so foreign. Luckily I have lived in Arizona for a few years and traveled to west and have been lucky enough to eat there.

Their famous signature burger, found on a “secret menu” only real locals know about, has this amazingly tangy signature In-N-Out Sauce. And let me tell you, it’s a game changer!

When I first tried their animal style fries, covered in that amazing sauce, I knew I had to make it for myself. Since Georgia currently doesn’t have any In and Out restaurants. But that is not stopping me from enjoying it.

If I can make a Big Mac Sauce duplicate, I can create this West Coast dipping sauce too.

Skip all the restaurants and make my favorite copycat recipes at home. In terms of dipping sauces I like this Bang Bang sauce, Mississippi Comeback Sauce, Chick Fil A Sauce, and my Blooming Onion Sauce Recipe.

simple ingredients make this delicious sauce

Ingredients Needed

Mayonnaise – Use your favorite mayo just not Miracle Whip. I prefer Duke’s as it’s the creamiest.

Ketchup – Regular ketchup is needed here.

Relish – Sweet pickle relish or substitute chopped sweet pickles.

Vinegar – White vinegar. Substitute white wine vinegar if needed.

Sugar – White granulated sugar.

How long does it last?

Keep any leftover special sauce in the fridge in an airtight container. It will last for almost 2 weeks.

I don’t recommend freezing it as it can separate and get grainy when you thaw it. Plus, it’s so easy you don’t need to freeze it for later.

How to Serve In N Out Sauce

There are so many ways to enjoy it! I like it on fries first and foremost. It’s a great dipping sauce for chicken fingers, chicken wings, and even fried pickles.

Of course you can always use it on your homemade animal style burger, some potato wedges, or your favorite sliders and chicken sandwiches. I have even used this instead of the special sauce on my super Big Mac sliders!

Is it the same as thousand island dressing?

It does have a similar flavor but with a few main differences. In N Out Sauce has a creamier texture and more tangy flavor.

1000 island dressing has a few more ingredients like yellow mustard, garlic powder, and Worcestershire sauce giving it a more “complex” flavor.

Tapas Tips & Tricks

  • Duke’s mayo is the best. Don’t use Miracle Whip as it changes the flavor profile.
  • Sweet relish is like the original but you can use dill pickles if you like them better.
  • Chill for at least 30 minutes before using so the flavors can mix.
  • Don’t freeze! You don’t need to because it’s easy to make and lasts a while in the fridge.
  • Enjoy with all your favorite snacks!
