Vanilla Oreo Truffles
Vanilla Oreo balls are creamy truffles made with Golden Oreos and cream cheese, then dipped in almond bark. Just 3 main ingredients plus some candy melts for decoration is all you need. They’re easy to customize the flavors and colors for any occasion. I dressed these up with red and pink for Valentine’s Day. Store them in the refrigerator or freeze up to 3 months. They’re ready in roughly 30 minutes and make about 20 truffles.

Oreo balls, or truffles are pretty much the easiest dessert to make that look totally professional. They need just 3 ingredients, use any decorations you want, and are totally addicting.
Forget about that potato chip commercial that says “I bet you can’t eat just one!” because I can’t stop at 2 or three!
Most of the recipes use the chocolate Oreo cookies, but I love the vanilla or “Golden” Oreos the best. Simple, classic, and they make a great base for mixing in other flavors. Not to mention swapping out colors and decorations to fit your specific party or gathering.
These Oreo balls are part of my Valentine’s Day Treat Box so I went with pink and red drizzles and sprinkles. But swap them out for any holiday. Red and green for Christmas, blue and gold for Chanukah, or a light pink and yellow for Easter.
I even made some for Mardi Gras with the colors of the King Cake! One bite of these creamy truffles and you’ll want another. They’re that good.

Ingredient Notes
- Oreos: Use the vanilla Golden Oreos for the best flavor or swap them out for your favorites. The mint ones are also delicious for this recipe!
- Cream cheese: Use your favorite brand and be sure to soften it before mixing.
- Candy: For the white coating I use the classic almond bark and use red and pink candy melts for the decorations along with some sprinkles. You can also use white chocolate if you prefer.

How To Make Vanilla Oreo Balls

- Crush the Oreo cookies in a food processor until they form crumbs. You can also use a large bag and a rolling pin.

- Combine the cookie crumbs and the softened cream cheese in a mixing bowl.

- Once the dough is combined, scoop out (1 tablespoon size) into balls and place on a baking sheet. Chill in the freezer for 30 minutes while you melt coating.

- Melt the almond bark in the microwave until smooth and creamy. Dip the truffles, one at a time in the coating until all are dipped.

- While the coating sets, melt the candy melts in separate bowls, in the microwave, until smooth.

- Place the melted candy into plastic bags, snip the end off, and drizzle over the Oreo balls. Immediately add the sprinkles or they won’t stick. Keep cool until ready to eat.

Storage
Refrigerator: Store truffles in airtight container in refrigerator. Because of the cream cheese you can’t leave them at room temperature.
Freezer: For longer storage, place in an airtight, freezer-safe container and freeze for up to 3 months. Thaw in the fridge before serving.

Frequently Asked Questions
Absolutely! Regular chocolate Oreos work great. Any Oreo flavor works for these, really. I love lemon, raspberry, mint, peanut butter, and birthday cake flavors the best!
It’s a vanilla-flavored candy coating that melts smooth and sets firm. You can find it in baking aisle. It’s not the same as white chocolate but works justlike it.
Yes! Use melting wafers or high-quality chocolate bar is just as delicious. Almond bark is my preference because it melts smoothly and sets nicely.
Freezing too long before coating causes cracks when warm almond bark touches it. The coating will “shrink” if it cools too quickly. Chill for 30 minutes. Any longer and you will have to let them sit out before you start dipping. You can always double dip if they start to crack.
You can coat the 20 Oreo balls with 10 ounces but if you double dip or like a thick coating you might need more.
Different colors behave differently when you melt them! Microwave in short 20-30 second intervals, and stir between each heating. You can also heat them over low heat in a bowl over a pot of simmering water. Don’t overheat or they will get crumbly.

Recipe Tips & Tricks
- Add sprinkles immediately: Sprinkles stick best when the drizzle is still wet. Work quickly or do small batches at a time.
- Oreo varieties: Swap them out to match your occasion (lemon, raspberry, mint, peanut butter, birthday cake)
- Coating preference: Almond bark is best for smooth melting and set firm setting. You can also use melting wafers or quality chocolate bar.
- Prevent cracks: Chill the truffles for only 30 minutes before coating.
- Easy drizzle: Place melted candy melts in sandwich bag, snip a tiny hole, drizzle over coated truffles. Easy to throw away when you’re done.
Vanilla Oreo Balls are amazingly delicious creamy truffles. Golden Oreos mixed with cream cheese, and coated in almond bark. Dressed up with red and pink drizzle for Valentine’s Day!
