Hoagie Dip

Italian hoagie dip takes all the flavors of your favorite Italian sub sandwich and turns it into the ultimate party dip! Ham, pepperoni, salami, provolone cheese, and all the fixings in one easy bowl. Ready in 45 minutes. No cooking required.

This dip is basically a deconstructed sandwich that you can scoop up with toasted French bread or crackers.

When I go to get sandwiches for the family, my son gets turkey, my husband gets roast beef, and I get an Italian one. I even made mini versions of the ones we had growing up.

I can’t get enough of those flavors. The salami, the pepperonicinis, and the oil and vinegar dressing. It makes my mouth water just typing out the words, LOL.

So instead of serving sandwiches for your party, turn them into a dip! Zero cooking, just chop, mix, and serve. Make it look even better and serve it in a bread bowl. Then you can tear off those edge pieces that are coated in the dressing 🙂

Ingredient Notes

  • Meats: I like to use a combination of deli ham, genoa salami, and pepperoni. Basically everything on an Italian sub.
  • Vegetables: Shredded lettuce and diced red onion.
  • Cheese: Provolone is my cheese of choice but you can also use mozzarella.
  • Pickles: A mixture of banana peppers and sweet pickle relish.
  • Dressing: Olive oil, red wine vinegar, mayo, and pepperoncini juice.
  • Serving: Toasted baguette slices, crostini, or a bread bowl!

How To Make Italian Hoagie Dip

  1. Chop or dice the ham, pepperoni, salami, cheese, red onion, lettuce, and banana peppers. Add all of these to a large mixing bowl.

  1. Add the relish and lettuce. Toss to mix.

  1. In a separate bowl make the dressing by combining the mayo, pepperoncini juice, red wine vinegar, olive oil, and Italian seasoning.

  1. Pour the dressing over the chopped ingredients and toss to combine. Transfer to a serving bowl and serve with crackers, crostini, bread, or chips.

Serving Suggestions

This dip is best served right after you make it because the dressing can make everything soggy. Which is also why leftovers might not work. If you have a little leftover, toss it with some extra lettuce and have it as a salad the next day.

If you want to make it ahead of time, I would prep everything by chopping up the meats and cheeses and storing in a container in the fridge. Do this same thing with the dressing. Mix it up to 2 days in advance and store until ready.

I do recommend mixing everything about 20-30 minutes ahead of time so the flavors have a chance to mix. Just not too far ahead and give everything a good stir before serving.

What To Serve With Hoagie Dip

My favorite way to serve this is a bread bowl! Just like my spinach dip and beer cheese dip. But if you’re looking for things to scoop or dip in it, here are some options:

  • Toasted French bread or crostini
  • Pita chips
  • Bagel chips
  • Crackers
  • Potato Chips

Can I make this vegetarian?

Sure! Skip the meats and load up on more veggies, cheese, and maybe some marinated artichokes or sun-dried tomatoes. Still delicious!

Can I change the meats?

Absolutely! Use turkey, roast beef, or different Italian meats. Just keep the total meat amount around 3 cups. Mix and match what you love!

Ingredients

  • 1 cup ham sliced, chopped
  • 1 cup pepperoni sliced, chopped

Instructions
