If you’ve been looking for the perfect sauce to pair with your shrimp or chicken, look no further!

Bang Bang sauce is the easiest recipe for turning the delicious chili flavor my family loves into a great dip that takes less than a minute to make.

The first time that I made this creamy bang bang sauce, I was blown away by how close this easy sauce came to the famous sauce served with the Bonefish Grill namesake appetizer.

The full recipe is one of the best things that I’ve made for my family, because they all love the heat. Don’t worry, for those who don’t, change it to have a sweet flavor instead.

With sweet chili sauce, mayonnaise, and sriracha, this recipe is super quick to make and is perfect for drizzling over anything that you want to make a fast, delicious meal.

Ingredient Notes

  • Mayonnaise – If you want, you can replace the cup mayonnaise with vegan mayo or keto-friendly mayo. My favorite brand is Duke’s but I also love to use Japanese kewpie mayo. It’s super rich and creamy.
  • Sweet chili sauce – Substitute Thai sweet chili sauce with garlic chili sauce. Or create your own homemade version of sweet chili sauce using a few simple pantry ingredients from any copycat recipe that you like. Last time I made this I used chili crunch and loved the added texture!
  • Sriracha sauce – If there’s no sriracha at the grocery store, replace with the hot sauce of your choice. Frank’s Red Hot is another great option.

Storage

Store it in the fridge, in an airtight container, and it will last up to 10 days. Just give it a good stir before you use it.

Because it has mayonnaise in the sauce, you shouldn’t freeze it. It can separate a little and can get a grainy texture to it. I recommend making only what you plan to make and use before the sauce expires.

How To Use Bang Bang Sauce

This sauce is perfect for the next time that you want a spicy kick to your food, and pairs perfectly with a number of things. It’s similar to my mayo dipping sauce that is a great hamburger spread.

Basically anything you put it on makes it “Bang Bang!” I love to dip my coconut chicken tenders in it. You can’t go wrong with sweet and spicy.

You can also use it on shrimp or fish tacos, as a dipping sauce for french fries, asparagus fries, tater tots, or potato wedges. It’s also great on roasted vegetables!

Tapas Tips & Tricks

  • For some extra seasoning on your main dish, you can include garlic powder, red chili flakes, and green onion on top of whatever meat that you’re seasoning.
  • If you want to make this recipe a little healthier, try using greek yogurt in your homemade bang bang sauce recipe in place of mayo.
  • Made your awesome sauce a little too spicy? Add in some rice vinegar or rice wine vinegar, which will help to cut the spicy taste from the primary ingredients and confuse your tastebuds.
  • Store your leftover sauce in an airtight container in the fridge, where it can stay good for up to 10 days.
  • The sweet chili sauce used is similar to Mae Ploy Sweet Chili sauce.
