Cajun Garlic Bread
Cheesy Cajun Garlic Bread takes just 13 minutes and serves 12. Crusty French bread, brushed with Cajun spiced butter, topped with nutty Parmesan, and baked until golden and crispy. The homemade Cajun butter brings big flavor without much effort, making this the side that steals the show. Serve it alongside soups, pasta, or Creole dishes, or tear into it straight off the pan.

Garlic bread is amazing all on its own. I mean, who does not love crispy, cheesy bread? I can scarf down several slices in one sitting, and I always want it around for soaking up sauce when we have spaghetti night.
But here is how you take homemade garlic bread to the next level.
Smear it with a Cajun garlic butter, top it with Parmesan, and bake it until golden. The spiced butter gives it a little kick that plays so well with everything. And if you think this only belongs next to Creole dishes, you are wrong!
It is just as good with my French Onion Chicken, my Skillet Fried Corn, and as a way to scoop out some of my Jalapeno Cheese Dip!
No time to hit the bakery? Grab a frozen baguette or refrigerated French bread dough. Whatever you do, just make this bread!

Ingredient Notes
French Bread – A crusty baguette holds up best to all that butter. Frozen baguettes work great, just bake them first before slicing and adding the butter. Refrigerated dough is another shortcut if you want to bake your own.
Cajun Seasoning – I use my Homemade Cajun Seasoning here, but Creole seasoning or Tony Chachere’s both work. The amount is totally adjustable, so add more for heat or less for a milder loaf. Want to skip the garlic powder? Fresh minced garlic is great too.
Parmesan Cheese – Shredded is easy and melts nicely. Buy a block and shred it yourself if you want the freshest flavor, or swap in Asiago or Romano for a sharper bite.
Butter – Unsalted lets you control the salt, since the Cajun seasoning already has plenty. Make sure it is fully softened so it spreads easily between the slices.

How To Make Cheesy Cajun Garlic Bread

- Preheat your oven to 375°F and line a baking sheet with foil or parchment paper. Cut the baguette into 1 inch slices, only cutting about three quarters of the way through. Do not cut all the way down so the loaf stays intact.

- In a small bowl, add the softened butter, garlic powder, Cajun seasoning, and dried parsley. Mix well.

- Using a brush or knife, spread the butter mixture evenly between the slices and over the top of the loaf. Sprinkle the top with Parmesan cheese.

- Place on the prepared baking sheet and bake for 8 to 10 minutes, until the cheese is melted and the bread turns golden brown. Tear or cut into pieces and serve warm.

Storage & Reheating
Best Fresh: This bread is at its crispiest straight out of the oven, so serve it warm if you can.
Keep Warm: Wrap the loaf in foil and hold it in a low oven if you are waiting to serve a crowd.
Refrigerator: Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 4 days.
Reheat: Pop slices in the oven or toaster oven to crisp them back up. Skip the microwave or you will lose the crispy edges and no one wants that!

Variations
Extra Spicy: Add more Cajun seasoning or a pinch of cayenne to the butter for serious heat.
Different Seasoning: Swap the Cajun for my Homemade Italian Seasoning or Homemade Ranch Seasoning for a whole new flavor.
Garlic Lovers: Use fresh minced garlic in place of garlic powder for a bolder, fresher punch.
Cheese Swap: Try mozzarella for gooey pull apart slices, or sharp cheddar for extra richness.
Herb Butter: Stir in fresh chopped parsley or chives for a brighter, more garden fresh finish.
What to Serve With Cajun Garlic Bread
- French Onion Chicken – Cheesy, savory, skillet made
- Swamp Soup – Smoky sausage, creamy pasta
- Cajun Fried Corn – Buttery, Southern, quick side
- Boudin Dip – Cajun sausage, scoop with bread

Frequently Asked Questions
You can mix the Cajun butter and spread it on the loaf a few hours ahead, then refrigerate and bake right before serving. It is best baked fresh when it’s hot out of the oven and the butter is still melted.
Not at all. The Cajun seasoning is optional and adjustable. Use as much or as little as you like, or swap in another blend. Blackening seasoning or Southwest seasoning are both great swaps.
No worries! Just press the pieces back together on the baking sheet before baking. It will hold together fine. You can also tightly wrap the loaf in foil for the first half of the baking time. Then carefully open up the toward the end.
Yes, just bake the bread first, then slice and add the butter. Refrigerated French bread dough works too.
Parmesan is my go to for that crispy golden top, but mozzarella, cheddar, or a blend all work depending on how cheesy you want it.
Wrap the baked loaf in foil and hold it in a low oven until you are ready to serve.
