What is Sangria?
You may be familiar with Sangria, the wine, but are you familiar with the mixed drink?
This holiday Cranberry Sangria is a mixed drink from Spain. It is made with Red Sangria wine, fruit juice, and a little brandy or whiskey.
A true Sangria is going to be a little stronger than the standard glass of wine.
So, be careful when you drink this sweet bubbly. It goes down fast and smooth, but you’ll be more inebriated than you expected before you know it!

Prepare a whole pitcher of Cranberry Sangria using these ingredients:
Cranberry Sangria Ingredients
- Cranberry juice
- Orange juice
- Red wine
- Fresh fruit
Cranberry juice – You can use 100% cranberry juice or a cranberry juice cocktail. Both add a tart flavor to your cocktail.
Orange juice – I would recommend 100%, pulp free orange juice. However, you can use any orange juice or orange juice cocktail you prefer.
Red wine – Use your favorite red wine, or if you aren’t sure what to use, just use Red Sangria Wine.
Brandy or whiskey – As stated above, a Sangria is a little stronger than just a glass of the wine. Add some strength to your drink with your favorite brandy or whiskey.
Fruit – Garnish your finished pitcher with fruit of your choice such as apples, orange slices, lime slices, and fresh cranberries.
You don’t need special equipment to whip up a pitcher of Sangria. In fact, all you need is a pitcher and your ingredients.
Follow the steps below for a sweet and bubbly drink!
How to Make a Cranberry Orange Sangria
Step 1 – Prep the Fruit
First, slice up the fruit of your choice. Add the diced fruit, orange, lime, apple and cranberries to a large pitcher.
Step 2 – Add Your Juices
Next, add your juices to the pitcher. Pour in the cranberry juice. Then, pour in the orange juice.
Step 3 – Add The Alcohol
After the juice is in the pitcher, you will add in your alcohol in order. First, add the brandy. Then, top it off with the red wine.
Step 4 – Mix and Adjust Taste
Stir to combine all the ingredients. Adjust to taste.
If you feel it is a little too tart, add more orange juice. A little too orangey, add more cranberry juice. You can also add more juice if you don’t like the taste of the alcohol.
Step 5 – Chill and Serve
Allow to chill for at least an hour in your refrigerator. Serve with fresh fruit and more cranberries in your glass.
Can I Make 1 Glass of Cranberry Sangria?
If you aren’t in the mood to make a whole pitcher, you can simply make one glass!
You will have to scale down the ingredients. Here’s what I would recommend:
- Get out a glass. Place a few slices of fruit in.
- Pour equal amounts of cranberry and orange juice into the glass until it is ¾ of the way full.
- Then, add a shot of wine and a shot of brandy or whiskey.
- Mix your glass with a spoon. Take a sip and adjust as necessary.
- Garnish with additional fruit if you would like.
How to Store a Sangria with Cranberries
The great thing about this recipe is that you can make it ahead of time and store it in your refrigerator. In fact, you can keep it covered in your fridge for up to 5-days.
So, go ahead and make a whole pitcher for the week!
