Mississippi Sin Dip
Delicious Mississippi Sin Dip is the perfect combination of cream cheese, ham, and spices, baked in a bread bowl! Serve this at any party or game day gathering.

I’m always in the mood to have a party so I am forever looking for new appetizer recipes to make. And this one is full of the classic dip ingredients but with some new twists.
And it’s baked in a crusty bread loaf that doubles as a serving bowl. Only one dish to wash!
The reason I love it so much is because it’s delicious, extra cheesy, easy to make in it’s own serving bowl, makes use of leftover bread and ham, and is perfect for game day and parties.
Some of my other favorite dips for game day is my beer cheese dip (with it’s own bread bowl too), my green chile dip, and this Texas trash dip. All are really easy to make and disappear super fast!
Mississippi doesn’t just have this amazing dip, but this comeback sauce, and this crockpot Mississippi chicken that is to die for! Great for a party or an easy weeknight meal for the kids.

Ingredient Notes
Bread – A large French bread loaf or round loaf of bread for a bowl. Sourdough is my favorite, but my husband loves this in pumpernickel!
Cheese – Shredded mozzarella cheese or cheddar cheese. Pretty much anything that melts well. I love Monterey Jack because it’s super creamy and goes with just about anything. Be sure to grate it yourself for even better melting.
Ham – Substitute the ham for cooked bacon, shredded chicken, spicy pork sausage, or leave the meat out all together!

How To Make Mississippi Sin Dip

- Preheat oven to 350 F. Cut a hole in the top of the loaf and reserve the top. Cut or tear out the inside bread, making a hollow bread loaf. Save the bread pieces for serving.

- In a large bowl, combine the cream cheese, sour cream, mozzarella cheese, and spices. Fold in the chopped ham.

- Spoon the mixture into the hollowed out bread loaf. Top with cheddar cheese. Gently wrap loaf in aluminum foil.

- Bake on a baking sheet at 350F for 35-45 minutes or until the dip is hot and bubbly and the cheese on top is melted. Remove from foil and place on a serving platter. Garnish with sliced green onions and serve with bread pieces, chips, crackers, and veggies.
For the full recipe and detailed instructions, please refer to the recipe card at the bottom of the post.

Serving Suggestions
- Bread cubes: The pieces from inside the hollowed-out loaf of bread are perfect for dipping.
- Chips: I like tortilla chips or potato chips.
- Veggies: Raw vegetables like carrot sticks, celery, and bell peppers are a great option.
- Crackers: You favorite buttery crackers are perfect. Ritz, Club, Chicken in a Biscuit, or even pretzel crisps. Try it with my firecrackers recipe!

Storage & Reheating
Leftover dip can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for 2-3 days. I recommend taking any leftover dip out of the bread bowl. Toss the bread and save the dip.
To reheat the dip, you can either place it in a baking dish in the oven or in a slow cooker on low heat until hot and bubbly.
Prep Ahead
You can’t freeze this dip but you can make the dip in a separate bowl and store in the fridge for up to 3 days.
When ready to serve, add to the bread and bake as usual.

Freaky Friday
What is Freaky Friday? It’s a recipe exchange put on by Michaela over at An Affair from the Heart. There are about a dozen people each time that get assigned a fellow foodie website to make a recipe from to share with our readers.
I have a tendency to make recipes that speak to me, like this Slow Cooker Buffalo Chicken Dip I made in a previous Freaky Friday.
This time around I drew Tristan from Home Cooked Harvest. A busy mom that grew up eating foods from around the world, she like to make new dishes to try.
Some of my favorites are her air fryer turkey burgers, honey garlic chicken thighs, and these dutch pancakes! I can’t stop eating them!!
You don’t! Make it in an oven safe bowl, bake in the oven as usual, and serve with your favorite dippers.
You bet! Mix the dip together, place in the slow cooker, and heat on low for 3 hours, stirring every so often. Turn to warm when everything is all melted together.
You sure can! A great option when you have a large crowd. Just make two to three bread bowls.

Tapas Tips & Tricks
- Use room temperature cream cheese and sour cream for easier mixing.
- To make the bread bowl, use a round loaf of French bread or Italian bread and cut a hole in the center with a serrated knife.
- Reserve the removed bread pieces and top for serving later with the dip. There might not be enough bread leftover so add some other items.
- Want more onion flavor? Add a dash of onion powder and mix in extra green onions.
- Brush the inside of the bread bowl with olive oil before adding the dip to keep it from getting soggy.
- For a spicier dip, add more hot sauce, chopped green chiles, or red pepper flakes to taste.
- Try to keep the foil from touching the cheese on top of the dip so it doesn’t pull off when you unwrap it. You can tent it or spray the underside with nonstick spray before putting on top of the bread.
