Ingredient Notes

  • Ground beef – Use lean ground beef or substitute ground turkey. Shaved steak will also work.
  • Bell peppers – I like the green peppers but feel free to substitute the red, yellow, or orange peppers.
  • Cheese – I use shredded mozzarella for melting or use Provolone or cheddar cheese.
  • Tater tots – Frozen tots or shredded hash browns or shredded potatoes

How To Make Philly Cheesesteak Tater Tot Casserole

  1. Preheat oven to 425F. In a large skillet over medium high heat, add the butter and ground beef. Cook until beef is almost done.

  1. Stir in the onions, green bell peppers, and mushrooms. Cook until the onions and peppers are soft.

  1. Layer the cooked meat mixture in the bottom of the casserole dish.

  1. Top with cheese. Add the tater tots in a single layer on the top of the cheese and ground beef mixture.

  1. Bake at 42F for 30 minutes or until bubbly, the cheese is melty, and the tater tots are crispy and golden brown. Remove from the oven. Garnish with chopped fresh parsley and enjoy.

Serving Suggestions

This casserole has is a full meal with the tater tots and vegetables, but it’s great next to a salad and some crusty bread.

If you like more veggies, roasted carrots or brussels sprouts are perfect with it.

Storage

Store leftovers in the refrigerator for up to 3-4 days. Wrap tightly in plastic wrap or store in an airtight container. Reheat in a 350F oven or in the microwave at 1 minute intervals until warmed through.

How To Freeze

After baking, cool completely. Wrap tightly in plastic wrap and aluminum foil or store in an airtight container.

Freeze for 2-3 months. Thaw overnight in the refrigerator before reheating. Heat in a 350F oven for 15 – 20 minutes or until the internal temperature reaches 165F.

  • .87 ounces brown gravy packet
