Cut a hole in the top of the loaf and reserve the top.
Cut or tear out the inside bread, making a hollow bread loaf. Reserve the removed bread pieces and top for serving later.
In a large mixing bowl, combine the cream cheese, sour cream, mozzarella cheese, and spices.
Fold in the chopped ham.
Spoon the mixture into the hollowed out bread loaf.
Top with cheddar cheese.
Gently wrap the loaf in aluminum foil. Try to keep the foil from touching the cheese on top so it doesn’t pull off when you unwrap it.
Bake at 350F for 35-45 minutes or until the dip is hot and bubbly and the cheese on top is melted.
Remove from foil and place on a serving platter.
Garnish with sliced green onions and serve with bread pieces, chips, crackers, and veggies.
Notes
Use room temperature cream cheese and sour cream for easier mixing. To make the bread bowl, use a round loaf of French bread or Italian bread and cut a hole in the center with a serrated knife.Reserve the removed bread pieces and top for serving later with the dip. There might not be enough bread leftover so add some other items.Want more onion flavor? Add a dash of onion powder and mix in extra green onions.Brush the inside of the bread bowl with olive oil before adding the dip to keep it from getting soggy. For a spicier dip, add more hot sauce, chopped green chiles, or red pepper flakes to taste.Try to keep the foil from touching the cheese on top of the dip so it doesn’t pull off when you unwrap it.
