My entire life I have been surrounded by coffee drinkers. I know that is a weird statement and I will expand on it and say that my family members are HUGE coffee drinkers. Black coffee, all day, every day.

Breakfast, lunch, and dinner. That is a lot of coffee! What do you do when you are born into a family of coffee drinkers? You drink coffee!!

Much like my husband, who is also a coffee drinker (no big surprise), I have to have my infusion first thing in the morning to get started.

I need something cold first thing as it wakes me up so thank goodness they make insulated cups that can hold ice all night so I have iced coffee right next to my bed when I wake up.

The aroma of coffee is on another level. I can smell it all day long and not get tired of it. Working from home allows me to move my office to a Starbucks® coffee shop and write out recipes that contain coffee and smell it at the same time.

I have a Chai Latte Dip that is coming out that will blow your mind, but back to where I left off.

For most people, not my family it seems, but most people like their coffee in the morning or for breakfast only with maybe that occasional cup of coffee after dinner when out at a restaurant.

In these instances, I like to order coffee with a little something extra in it like extra whipped cream and/or chocolate milk as if I am still 5. Don’t knock chocolate milk in your coffee, it is very much like a mocha!

PEPPERMINT MOCHA CHEESE BALL

First off, I love cheese balls. They are the perfect party food, game day appetizer, picnic item, hostess gift, and all-around holiday favorite being that the only stipulation is that a cheese ball is for later in the day.

Or is it?!?! I have been working on lots of cheese ball recipes for football season and upcoming holiday parties and while brainstorming ideas I came across one occasion that is sorely lacking in cheese balls. Breakfast!

I recently posted a Breakfast cheese ball recipe with berries and granola but after publishing it and thinking of other items to serve with it, I started thinking that I left coffee off the menu!

Why not mix the coffee in the cheese ball much like I did with my Chai Latte Dip. Let’s coffee up this cheese ball up and make it a holiday flavor to boot!

EASY BREAKFAST FOOD

Not being a big breakfast fan, I am fully on the savory side unless we are talking about doughnuts and then all bets are off. I love bacon and eggs but prefer to have them later in the day and usually not together.

Breakfast for me consists of leftovers from the night before or a few crackers and hummus. Cereal is something I crave, but usually for dessert and late at night. Thanks, mom for introducing me to this vice!

Why can’t we celebrate breakfast with all these wonderful things together? Coffee, savory items, sweet foods…  What if they all came in a ball that you make ahead of time so when you are crazy busy during the holidays you can literally roll out breakfast for family and friends and just enjoy the best present of all: time together?

How do we pick the flavors?  Let’s talk about the coffee drink that is at the top of my list, A Starbucks® Peppermint Mocha.

PEPPERMINT MOCHA RECIPE

Mocha is the delicious mixture of espresso, milk, and chocolate. Like Coffee married Hot Chocolate and had a baby! What better way to ease into drinking coffee, for those just starting out, thEn adding chocolate to it?

Throw in the holiday favorite, peppermint, and we can have a serious conversation! Preferably around breakfast time before the day gets crazy.

In dreaming of what flavor of cheese ball to make with coffee, I couldn’t help but make it a flavor that I will enjoy too. A Peppermint Mocha Cheese Ball is just the way I want to spend Christmas morning with the family!

Our Christmas morning usually consists of sausage squares, orange juice, fresh fruit, Mimi’s Marshmallow Bombs, and plenty of bacon. Now that my boys are big I might have to buy half a pig just to feed them!

While all the boys are scarfing down the eggs and bacon and fighting over the last sausage square, the ladies are picking at the fruit and the crumbs of bacon left on the serving platter.

With my Peppermint Mocha Cheese Ball, us ladies can gather at one end of the table, start smearing our crackers with the cheese ball and watch the buffet destruction ensue from a safe distance.

I will get my coffee, a bit of savory and sweet, and spend the morning catching up with everyone. Gathering around the table always leads to ridiculous discussions and more laughs than any of our bellies can handle all at once.

Thank goodness we get more than one day to spend together this holiday season.
