tablespoons of red pepper flake, cup vegetable oil, and other ingredients for an easy recipe

Ingredients Needed

Saltine Crackers – Full size saltines are best for this recipe but feel free to use a different cracker or even the salt free version.

Olive Oil – Some recipes say that olive oil doesn’t absorb as well but I like it because it keeps the crackers crispier longer and it doesn’t taste as greasy.

Spices – I use a combination of my homemade steak seasoning with garlic powder, cayenne pepper, and red pepper flakes.

How to make Firecrackers Recipe

First: Place the crackers (all 4 sleeves of crackers) upright in a container in a single layer.

Second: Mix your oil and spices together in a bowl. Whisk to combine.

Third: Drizzle the seasoned oil to coat the crackers as evenly as possible. Make sure to scrape out all the seasoning in the bowl. You don’t want to miss any. Seal the container.

Fourth: Flip the container upside down and let sit for 5 minutes. Continue to flip the container every five minutes, for a total of 30 minutes. That’s it. They are the best if they sit overnight!

Can you use a different seasoning with them?

There are a ton of different seasoned saltines recipes out there using different spice mixes. I prefer my All-Purpose Steak Seasoning for the kick but feel free to modify the spices to your liking.

Some use spicy ranch seasoning, italian seasoning, or a salad dressing mix.

Can I use a different cracker?

Yes, you can! Try this with mini saltine crackers, unsalted saltines, Ritz crackers, Club, Club crackers, or other butter crackers.

If you use mini saltines or oyster crackers, you can make them in a zip-top bag.

How long do Fire Crackers last?

Store them in an airtight container for up to a week if they last that long.

Do Fire Crackers stay crispy?

Believe it or not they do! The crackers are so absorbent and there isn’t THAT much oil so they stay crispy.

Can I use a different oil?

Yes! A lot of other Saltine Cracker recipes use canola oil or peanut oil. I like olive oil as it doesn’t taste as oily.

fire crackers last a long time

Can you put them in the oven?

This is a no bake recipe so you won’t need to. You can put them in the oven at 400F for 3-5 minutes to crisp them back up if you want.

They stay crispy for up to a week at room temperature if they last that long.

You can heat fire crackers up in the oven if you want to serve them warm.

How many crackers are in a sleeve of Saltines?

Approximately 40 in each sleeve. Just enough to calm the stomach or inhale with a pot of soup!

Love these! I added Worcestershire sauce to my oil and used a little bit of everything in my spice cabinet lol. Everyone is right about the saltiness of store bought steak seasoning. I’ve been reading comments about butter rather than oil and have been thinking about using butter with cinnamon and sugar for a sweet treat. I don’t know, we will see!

I was looking for a seasoned cracker recipe and found this one! The taste is amazing and will compliment my soup perfectly! I used unsalted crackers and realized that if I had used saltines with the store bought steak seasoning it would definitely have been way to salty!! I Also added extra garlic because you can never have too much garlic on anything! Thanks for the recipe it’s amazing!

Loves these! Great basic recipe that you can leave be, or spruce up! I like to use unsalted crackers, since there's plenty of salt in the seasoning, and also add some powdered ranch, and/or nutritional yeast! yummy!

Love the idea of using unsalted crackers! And that nutritional yeast does add some savory flavors to things.
